Shell Canada's 2004 Coalbed Methane test well atop the hobbit coal deposit, tenured within Fortune Mineral's coal tenure of the same portion of Klabonotine territory. Industrial development interests never consulted the holders of aboriginal rights and title prior to transferring mineral and CBM tenures and seeking investors. This particular well head is too close for comfort, to the Sacred Headwaters of the Spatisizi River, just outside of the Spatsizi Provinacial Park boundary, within Tahltan/Klabonotine traditional territories. Further Shell Canada exploration test wells are a form of unwanted resource development, and Shell Canada has been asked to leave by the Iskut Elders at a recent Tahltan Resource Development forum.
