The Spatsizi River is only as protected, as is it's headwaters. Within Klabonotine territory (Klabona means "Headwaters"), the Spatsizi River does not flow into Spatsizi Park until it has coursed it way through overlaping tenure areas granted by the Crown to Shell Canada and Fortune Minerals. Spatsizi means "Red Goat", while all Spatsizi wildlife populations that migrate in and out of the Park's Western boundaries are threatened by the cummulative impacts of black anthricite coal development and the blue burning flame of coalbed methane development.
